Perched in the mountainous landscape of Lefkada, Summer House Feline enjoys uninterrupted panoramic views towards the surrounding islands. Conceived as a quiet retreat, the villa is carefully embedded into the terrain, allowing architecture and landscape to coexist as a single, continuous experience.
The design follows a sustainable, under-earth strategy, partially sinking the building into the slope to reduce visual impact and improve thermal performance. This approach enhances the house’s relationship with the land while providing natural insulation, supporting passive heating in winter and cooling during the warmer months. The architecture responds directly to the Mediterranean climate through considered orientation, generous daylight openings, and cross ventilation, ensuring comfort with minimal reliance on mechanical systems.
The plot’s layered topography and varied viewpoints informed the design of the visitor’s route from the parking area to the villa’s entrance. The arrival unfolds gradually: the blue of the sea and the green of the surrounding mountains accompany the visitor along the external steps leading to the house. The view is first revealed upon entering the villa at the upper level, while on the ground floor the architecture dissolves into the landscape, allowing the visitor to fully inhabit and become part of the natural setting.
Daylight plays a central role in shaping the interior atmosphere. Carefully positioned openings frame views, bring soft, controlled light deep into the spaces, and reinforce the connection between inside and outside throughout the day. Local materials are used throughout, grounding the project in its regional context and allowing the villa to blend seamlessly with the Mediterranean landscape.
The house is organised over two levels. The ground floor accommodates two bedrooms alongside an open-plan kitchen and living area that opens directly onto a shaded exterior patio. This outdoor space functions as an extension of daily life, offering a protected area for dining and relaxation. A third bedroom is located on the upper floor, enjoying elevated views and increased privacy.
Summer House Feline is a contemporary Mediterranean dwelling, rooted in place and climate, designed to meet the needs of modern visitors while remaining respectful of its natural and cultural setting.

Μια μεσογειακή βίλα ενσωματώνεται στο ορεινό τοπίο της Λευκάδας
Το Summer House Feline είναι μια σύγχρονη μεσογειακή εξοχική κατοικία (190 τμ) που συνδέεται άρρηκτα με τον τόπο και το κλίμα της. Το έργο αφορά το σχεδιασμό και την κατασκευή κτιρίου σε πλαγιά της Λευκάδας με έντονη κλίση και θέα στα γύρω νησιά (Μεγανήσι, Σκορπιός, Μαδουρή).
Η πρόσβαση στο κτίριο γίνεται από το ψηλό τμήμα της πλαγιάς, αφήνοντας το αυτοκίνητο στο χώρο στάθμευσης. Ο επισκέπτης συνεχίζει την πορεία προς τη βίλα πεζός με θέες προς το γαλάζιο της θάλασσας και το πράσινο των γύρω βουνών. Η θέα αποκαλύπτεται σταδιακά, η αρχιτεκτονική συγχωνεύεται με το τοπίο, το κτίριο γίνεται προέκταση της φύσης. Σχεδιασμένη ως ήσυχη απόδραση, η βίλα ενσωματώνεται προσεκτικά στην κλίση του εδάφους.
Το κτίριο σχεδιάζεται μέσα στο βουνό, με στόχο να μειώσει το οπτικό αποτύπωμα στο φυσικό τοπίο και να ενισχύσει την βιοκλιματική του συμπεριφορά. Η κατοικία εκμεταλλεύεται τη φυσική μόνωση του εδάφους, για παθητική θέρμανση τον χειμώνα και φυσική ψύξη τους καλοκαιρινούς μήνες, ενώ η προσεκτική διαμόρφωση ανοιγμάτων και ο διαμπερής αερισμός, ανταποκρίνονται άμεσα στις απαιτήσεις του μεσογειακού κλίματος.
Η κατοικία εκτείνεται σε δύο επίπεδα: στο ισόγειο φιλοξενούνται δύο υπνοδωμάτια και ένας ενιαίος χώρος κουζίνας και καθιστικού που ανοίγεται στη σκιασμένη αυλή, δημιουργώντας έναν προστατευμένο υπαίθριο χώρο καθημερινής ζωής. Στον όροφο, ένα τρίτο υπνοδωμάτιο απολαμβάνει πλήρη ιδιωτικότητα και ανεμπόδιστη θέα.
Το φυσικό φως καθορίζει την ατμόσφαιρα στο εσωτερικό. Τα ανοίγματα, μελετημένα και προσεκτικά τοποθετημένα, επιτρέπουν στο φως να εισχωρεί στους χώρους, πλαισιώνοντας τη θέα και ενισχύοντας τη συνεχή σύνδεση εσωτερικού-εξωτερικού. Η χρήση τοπικών υλικών εδραιώνει τη βίλα στον τόπο της, ενώ ταυτόχρονα επιτρέπει τη διακριτική ενσωμάτωση στο μεσογειακό τοπίο.
